Update - Round 2
Russell update: It has been a busy week here in Houston.
My dad and I drove down Saturday and Russ and his mom flew in Sunday. We had to
find alternate housing as our original arrangement had stairs that Russ can’t
get up due to severe muscle weakness caused by excess cortisol from his tumor.
We found a hotel close to the hospital until we can get into the Hope Lodge at
the end of the month. Jim stayed an extra day to help us get settled and make
sure Russ had everything he needed to stay safe. Thanks Jim-Dad; you’re the
best!
We saw endocrinology, GU oncology, and neurology this
week. Russ has been having trouble with his right arm and is unable to lift it.
We will have further testing next week to see what is going on. Russ started
chemo on Tuesday, got a PICC line Wednesday, and was admitted at 2am last night
for day 3 of chemo which didn’t start until 3pm He is doing great other than
the muscle weakness and severe edema. Hopefully he will get released Monday.
His mom is here with us and she will be staying with him
so I can fly back and forth to work. She has been so much help and is staying
at the hospital so I can get some sleep. She is learning how to navigate the
many places at MDA. We are blessed to have her here. Thanks MIL.
My parents are keeping our boys. Shout out to my amazing
momma who got the boys prepared for the first day of school and made sure the first
week was a success. She is the best mom in the world and I’m glad she is mine.
We truly couldn’t get through this without our amazing friends and family. We appreciate all of the calls, texts, donations, and prayers. We love you all. - Tiffany
